A 15-day loop out of Delhi through Northern India, hitting the major points of the classic tourist circuit: Jaipur's palaces, Agra's Taj Mahal, and the ghats of Varanasi on the Ganges.
This is the classic Northern India circuit, condensed into two weeks. The route follows the well-worn path from Delhi through Rajasthan to Agra and then east to the spiritual center of Varanasi, before looping back. It's a trip built for efficiency, hitting the major cultural landmarks without the logistical friction of navigating India's train and bus networks independently. The inclusion of smaller towns like Orchha and a rural village stay near Jaipur provides a brief counterpoint to the intensity of the major cities.

Day 1 of 15
Delhi
Arrival in Delhi
Arrive in Delhi at any time. Your airport transfer can be arranged through a local social enterprise that employs female drivers. Settle in, drop your bags, and use the afternoon to acclimatize to the city's kinetic energy before the journey begins in earnest.

DIY Reality Check: The U.S. Department of State explicitly advises that women should not travel alone in India, citing the risk of violent crime and sexual assault. This advisory becomes immediately relevant upon landing at Delhi's airport, where travelers must navigate a known gauntlet of transport scams. Unofficial touts inside the terminal direct arrivals to fake "prepaid" taxi counters that overcharge, while the legitimate booths are located outside. A common tactic involves drivers falsely claiming a traveler's hotel is closed or inaccessible to divert them to a commission-paying alternative. While safer options like official taxis and ride-sharing apps exist, they require the traveler to find the correct outdoor lanes or designated multi-level parking zones, all while deflecting unsolicited offers. A pre-arranged arrival transfer with a vetted provider bypasses this entire stressful and potentially hazardous vetting process.
The day starts with a walk through the city led by a guide from a youth-support project, offering a perspective on Delhi from street level. From there, head into the heart of Old Delhi to visit the Jama Masjid, the city's largest mosque. It's worth climbing one of its minarets for a commanding view over the old city's sprawl. Afterwards, push through the crowds of Chandni Chowk, one of India's oldest markets, and visit the Gurdwara Sis Ganj to learn about the Sikh religion. The day ends at Connaught Place, a stark architectural reminder of British rule.

Jaipur
The Road to the Pink City
A five-to-six-hour overland journey brings you to Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan, known as the 'Pink City'. En route, there's a stop at a women's cooperative for a hands-on lesson in the traditional craft of block printing. Once in Jaipur, the evening is free. A good option is to catch a Bollywood film at the famous Art Deco Raj Mandir cinema for a full-on cultural immersion.

DIY Reality Check: The overland transfer from Delhi to Jaipur presents a significant logistical and safety challenge for independent travelers. According to the World Health Organization, India saw a 15% increase in road traffic fatalities between 2010 and 2021, and it accounts for 11% of all accident-related deaths worldwide. Navigating this requires either braving public transport or sourcing and vetting a private driver from a fragmented market. Furthermore, accessing a unique social enterprise like the Anoothi Project—a cooperative for marginalized women located in the countryside outside Jaipur—is not a simple drop-in. The project was established to provide skills and financial independence to its members and has partnered with non-profits to build out its tourism infrastructure, indicating it's not a typical, publicly-listed tourist attraction. A coordinated trip removes the burden of securing safe, private long-distance transport and provides pre-vetted access to a community-based experience that would be difficult to find and arrange independently.
