Morocco: Tangier to Marrakech via Fes & the Coast — A Curated Route
11-day itinerary
An 11-day overland route from Tangier to Marrakech, connecting the Rif Mountains' blue city of Chefchaouen with the imperial capital of Fes and the Atlantic coast at Essaouira.
A route for the traveler who wants Morocco's classic circuit—Tangier, Chefchaouen, Fes, Marrakech—without the logistical friction of arranging private drivers and vetting riads. The value is in the curation: stays in properties chosen for their design and service, and meals at restaurants that often require booking months out. It solves the primary challenge of a Moroccan road trip—navigating the distances and variable quality between cities—turning a complex independent plan into a seamless progression.

Chefchaouen
The Blue City of Chefchaouen
The morning begins with a private overland journey south. The route includes a stop in Tetouan for a guided walk through its UNESCO-listed medina. You'll navigate the souks where villagers sell fresh produce and see the old Spanish fortress on the hill before continuing the drive.
Arriving in Chefchaouen, the landscape shifts from the country's earth tones to the city's pervasive shades of blue. An initial orientation walk maps out the main alleys and squares of the medina. The rest of the afternoon and evening are unstructured, allowing for independent exploration of the town's famously photogenic streets.
